Digital work / mobile work

Brief overview

Digitalization, demographic change, globalization - the list of trends that are influencing and reshaping our complex working world goes on and on. New demands are being placed on companies and employees.

Especially for digitally based collaborative and social communication of a project, for leadership from a distance, changed forms of teamwork with equal spatial distance, the development of digital competence plays a key role. Prerequisites for the success of digital collaboration are the necessary applied skills of managers and employees in dealing with new systems and changed synchronous and asynchronous communication channels.

What has changed?

Successful collaboration in the digitelan space requires not only the ability to work in a team and change communication, but also application competence of different systems, processes and collaboration platforms. This includes both application-related systems depending on the task of as well as specific cross-project collaboration platforms (e.g. teams, Slack, project management tools, etc.) as well as classic and new communication media (e.g. e-mail, chat). In the sign of digital networking, these systems are becoming increasingly integrated.

In addition, companies must position themselves more interestingly for specialists in the so-called war of talents by using new forms of virtual collaboration and enable goal-oriented teamwork regardless of location.

What is the core issue?

The bottom line is that digital collaboration stands and falls with the willingness of the company and its employees to embrace it. The company must create the conditions for digital collaboration by investing in new hardware and software, training and educating employees accordingly, and thus bringing about a change in attitude among both management and employees.

In turn, employees and managers must adapt their work processes and make them more efficient. For collaboration in the virtual space to succeed, managers should ensure that there is clarity about the identity of those involved and that processes are communicated simply and clearly. We make you fit for the working and living environment of tomorrow. You will learn more about collaboration and communication in the digital space, digital transformation and Leadership 4.0 and how to apply them.

Following massive change processes in the world of work, "digital working" and "mobile working" define the new framework conditions and are the "new normal". Digital working enables us to work, create and design independently of time and place, flexibly, decentrally and often self-determined. In the process, however, new types of strain and stress are emerging. Resilience of the employees and resilience of the company are required.

Entrepreneurial control as well as management control are losing in connection with digital work, have become "different" and more difficult. Mobility, productivity and individuality, on the other hand, are achievements of digital work that must be used and their efficiency optimized.

The advantages of the digital world of work for the individual include high flexibility, time savings through the possibility of mobile work (e.g., in the home office or in distributed teams), and ultimately the opportunity for people in the company to balance their private and professional lives even more successfully and resiliently. More self-determination and personal responsibility ideally increase motivation and ultimately the efficiency of work.

However, the digital world of work also harbors risks and disadvantages for employees (e.g., constant availability, uncertainty, permanent pressure to stay on task, ...), which must be specifically counteracted by strengthening soft skills (e.g., with regard to communication, self-management, and teamwork) and consolidating personal resilience as part of HR development.

In the following, we would like to introduce you to our support options in the competence field "Digital Work / Mobile Work":

Sharpening of remote competence in interaction with people, in leadership, in teamwork

Leading at a distance as well as virtual teamwork has become a necessary measure. Managers and teams must therefore be supported in successfully leading their team/employees in the virtual get-together and communication space and in strengthening togetherness. And this can be done without direct physical contact with colleagues, without informal exchanges over a cup of coffee. Social interaction is often the glue that holds a team together. But how do we do this online - how do we replace the coffee kitchen? And: how do we turn our virtual meetings into productive and enjoyable gatherings? How can we work together in the virtual space in a binding and trusting manner while also achieving our own personal goals?

During remote training, participants learn the essential principles of how to conduct meetings and conversations effectively at a distance and interactively within a videoconference. They also learn how to reach, motivate and effectively lead and accompany people in virtual exchanges. Together, they develop strategies and measures that enable them to lead and accompany employees remotely. It is about strengthening the team and the responsibility of individuals.

What are the differences between face-to-face and remote meetings? What tips and tricks are there for the individual to consider depending on the setting and initial situation? How can I support myself and others in giving the best in online collaboration and being productive with each other?
